What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser when you visit a website. They let the site remember what you did or who you are between visits, or across pages of a single visit.
Some cookies are essential for the site to work. Others help us understand how the site is used or support our email marketing. We do not store any directly identifiable information in cookies (no names, no email addresses).
The three categories we use
When you first visit the site you’ll see a cookie consent banner with three categories. You can accept or reject each independently, and change your mind at any time by reopening the banner from the link in the page footer.
Necessary — always on. Required for the site to work. Includes the cookie that remembers your consent choices and any cookie our hosting provider sets to route your request.
Analytics — opt-in. Used to understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. Includes Google Analytics 4, and (when enabled) PostHog. No advertising profiling.
Marketing — opt-in. Used to remember whether you’ve subscribed to our newsletter or opted in via a form, and to support email marketing campaigns. Currently used only by Klaviyo when you have explicitly opted in.
What’s set in each category
Necessary cookies, always on:
cc_cookie (this site) — remembers your consent choices. Lifetime: 6 months.
Vercel routing cookies (this site) — short-lived, technical only.
Analytics cookies, only after analytics consent:
_ga, _ga_* (Google Analytics) — distinguish unique visitors. Lifetime: up to 2 years.
PostHog session cookies (when enabled) — distinguish unique visitors and sessions. Lifetime: up to 1 year.
Marketing cookies, only after marketing consent:
Klaviyo session cookies (when enabled) — remember subscription state. Lifetime: up to 1 year.
How to change your preferences
Reopen the cookie banner from the link at the bottom of every page, or change your consent choices from your browser settings. You can also block all cookies through your browser, though some parts of the site may not work as expected.
If you opt out of analytics or marketing cookies after previously opting in, we delete the relevant cookies from your browser and stop loading those scripts on subsequent visits.
Third-party cookies
When you interact with our embedded booking widget (provided by ServiceOS), that platform may set its own cookies on its own domain (accounts.willowalexander.co.uk). Those cookies are governed by ServiceOS’s own privacy and cookie notices.
Browser controls
Modern browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies, or clear existing ones. See your browser’s privacy settings or visit aboutcookies.org for instructions. You can also enable Do Not Track in some browsers — we honour that for the analytics and marketing categories.
